Do All Video Games Have Glitches?

Video games that have glitches are caused by an error by the programmer. The game will have behavior that was not supposed to happen such as, incorrectly displayed graphics, collision detection errors, or the game may freeze or crash. Another glitch might be audio problems.

The reason some games have glitches isn’t always the fault of the developers.  The developers are paid by the publishers, so as long as the game is playable enough to be reviewed, has enough art, and the stores will carry it, they say it’s done. Since most developers are not wealthy enough to publish their own games they have to rely on publisher money, so the publisher makes the final decision.  Publishers don’t care about quality they only care whether the product sells. The bottom line is that if you want quality games then write a letter or an email to whoever publishes the games you buy. Tell them to let the developers finish their projects and give them the time they need to work out any bugs or glitches there may be.

Now for those of you that want the glitches there are plenty of websites that show you how to do just that and more. There’s one out there that actually has warning signs alerting player to read the disclaimer before using any of the “severe” glitches.  The site offers some of the deepest, darkest secrets waiting to be unleashed from your video games.  Some of those secrets aren’t even known by Nintendo’s top game testers.

Gamers that exploit flaws or glitches in a video game are called glitchers. This practice is called glitching and it can help or disable the player. A video game undergoing a glitch is also called glitching.
