Saved from Video Game Glitches

Glitches in video games began with the invention of Pong. A glitch is a short lived fault in the games program. These “Glitches” can be frustrating, annoying and ruin a video game. Especially if the player has traveled deep into the game they have been playing. Over the years, glitches have become fewer and far between. Programmers have nearly perfected the art of video game making and design. With the latest Play Station 3 and XBOX 360 the games are mostly glitch free. Of course, there are still issues with some games but there are many ways around them unlike the games of old.

Cheat codes were introduced into the video gaming world with the invention of the Sony PlayStation and its groundbreaking memory card. Before the PlayStation, there wasn’t even a way to save a game in progress. The player needed to either play the game all the way through, or lose all progress into the game they were playing. Certain sports games would save some progress. Tecmo Super Bowl was one of the first games to have a save option installed in the game. It kept track of statistics, however it only kept track for one season. Today, EA Sports has taken it to the next level. You can start with NCAA Football and import players with Madden football. In case of a glitch, the memory card is there, so you can always load a lost game.

Glitches are still evident in games, especially after the game has been played more and more. Saving the game often will help the player if they are worried about losing their games to a glitch.
